The Director
Victoria L. Bernhardt, Ph.D.,
is Executive Director of the Education for the Future Initiative, and
Professor in the College of Communication and Education at
California State University, Chico (on leave). Dr. Bernhardt received a
Ph.D. in Educational Psychology Research and Measurement, with a minor
in Mathematics, from the University of Oregon. Her B.S. and M.S.
degrees are from Iowa State University in the fields of statistics and
psychology. Dr. Bernhardt has directed the Education for the Future
Initiative, since 1991.
While working with schools in the Initiative, Dr. Bernhardt developed the concept of the school portfolio. In 1996, this work was named one of the top Business-Education Partnerships in the World when it received the NOVA Corporation Global Best Award for Educational Renewal and Economic Development. Dr. Bernhardt was the recipient of the 1995 McKee Foods Corporate Award for Partnership Leaders. In addition to receiving two dozen other awards, she has made numerous presentations at professional meetings and has conducted hundreds of workshops on the school portfolio and data analysis processes at local, regional, state, national, and international levels.
Vickie lives with her husband, Jim Richmond, and dog, Robie, in Paradise, California.
Dr. Bernhardt is the author of many books written to disseminate the research behind her work, and published by Eye on Education.
